The NH-L9i is one of the best low profile coolers for modern Intel Core i7 and i5 processors, with impressive performance. The new design also offers better compatibility with 12th Gen Intel CPUs that are compatible with the LGA 1151 socket due to its height of only 55mm.

The “noctua nh-l9i” is a low-profile cooler that was made for the 12th Gen Intel Core Processors. It has two heatpipes and uses Noctua’s NF-A9 PWM fan to provide optimal cooling performance.

For Intel’s newest socket, LGA 1700, Noctua has released two new NH-L9i low-profile CPU coolers. They look to be ideal for ultra-compact HTPCs and Small Form Factor (SFF) systems using new Alder Lake CPUs as as the Core i9-12900K and Core i7-12700K, and include the NH-L9i-17xx and NH-L9i-17xx chromax.black. Both are accessible through the official Amazon storefronts of Noctua.

Noctua says:

With a height of just 37mm, the NH-L9i is excellent for ultra-slim cases, and its tiny footprint ensures 100 percent RAM and PCIe compatibility, as well as simple access to near-socket ports on even the most densely packed mini-ITX motherboards. The NH-L9i-17xx runs surprisingly silently owing to the highly optimized NF-A9x14 92mm fan that allows completely automated speed control through PWM and the custom-designed SecuFirm2 mounting method for the new LGA1700 socket. The NH-L9i-17xx combines everything consumers have come to expect from Noctua’s bigger coolers into a super-compact, premium-quality design for ITX and HTPC systems with Intel’s latest 12th generation Core CPUs, topped off with Noctua’s famous NT-H1 thermal compound.

Pricing in retail:

  • EUR/USD 44.90 NH-L9i-17xx
  • EUR/USD 54.90 for NH-L9i-17xx chromax.black

Roland Mossig adds, “We’re really pleased with the performance of the NH-L9i-17xx coolers on Intel’s new LGA1700 CPUs” (Noctua CEO). “We were able to dissipate up to 160W on the Core i9-12900K while overclocking it to 4.2GHz, and up to 125W on the Core i5-12600K when overclocking it to 4.3GHz.” These are remarkable results for such tiny coolers, making them perfect choices for ultra-compact Intel Z690 designs with plenty of processing power!”

The NA-FD1 fan duct, intended to increase the performance of Noctua’s NH-L9i and NH-L9a coolers in particular SFF situations, was also revealed.

Noctua says:

The new NA-FD1 fan duct kit improves the performance of Noctua NH-L9i and NH-L9a series CPU coolers in SFF situations with a gap of 5mm or more (up to 45mm) between the cooler and a perforated top or side panel. The duct bridges this gap by preventing the cooler from absorbing hot air from the inside and allowing it to pull fresh air from the outside via the perforated panel, which may improve CPU temperatures by up to 5°C or more depending on the arrangement. Because the duct is made up of varying thickness EVA foam spacers, it is totally modular and can be modified in 1mm increments from 5mm to 45mm in height to match a variety of cases and setups. In a nutshell, the NA-FD1 is a straightforward, adaptable, and cost-effective method of increasing the efficiency of NH-L9a and NH-L9i series coolers!

“We now strongly suggest the optional NA-FD1 fan duct kit for Small Form Factor setups, both to customers selecting the new NH-L9i-17xx models and to users of the current NH-L9i and NH-L9a heatsinks,” says Roland Mossig (Noctua CEO). “It’s a simple but effective approach to improve the performance of these coolers in small instances.” For quite some time, tech-savvy hobbyists have been constructing comparable ducts with their 3D printers, but not everyone has the capability to do so, so we thought it would be fantastic to provide an inexpensive, flexible duct kit that requires no specific equipment or expertise to put up.”

The NA-FD1 has a recommended retail price of EUR/USD 12.90 and is available via Noctua’s official Amazon shops.
